The Republic of Belarus is situated in the heart of Europe at the crossing of roads from West to East and from North to South. Its territory is traversed by the shortest communications linking the CIS members-states with West European countries. Belarus is a landlocked country in the region traditionally called Eastern Europe, bordering Russia to the east, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the north. Its capital is Minsk and other major cities include Brest, Grodno, Gomel, Mogilev, and Vitebsk. Grodno is an ancient town founded in 1128.
About Grodno City Medical University
Grodno State Medical University founded in 1985. It keeps a prestigious place among the medical higher educational establishments of Belarus. High quality teaching guaranties students high level of theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills and experience. Thousands of graduates have already evaluated high quality of medical education obtained in the Grodno State Medical University. Currently more than 2500 students attend classes at the university, among them 35o international students representing 26 countries worldwide.

The Grodno State Medical University is a universally recognized educational, diagnostic and scientific center of medical science in the Republic of Belarus. GSMU co-operates with medical educational and research centers in Poland, Germany, Russia, and other places.
Education Base
Study of M.D. Physician course in English Language was started in 2002 by the joint efforts of GSMU and Global Education Service more than 100 Indian students are already studying in this faculty. International scientists and professors come to GSMU to deliver lectures. The students directly start studying in first year of M.D. Physician course without doing russian language. The programme and syllabus of MBBS is same for both the languages but in english medium they save one year all the academic classes are conducted in english medium

At present 50 Doctors of Science and Professors, 108 Asst. Professors, 209 Candidates of Sciences are employed at the University. There are four Research Laboratories at GSMU. Excellent students go to the West European Countries to participate in Medical Scientific Conferences and Symposia. Professors and Scientists from European countries and USA make visits to deliver lectures. There are Twenty three clinics functioning at the clinical departments of the university in Nine city, Regional and District Hospitals.
All overseas students of the Grodno State Medical University study at the Faculty of General Medicine, can study 6 Years in English Medium. Also Grodno State Medical University is the Only Medical University that provides 6 years high quality English Medium Medical Studies.
Students who wish to study pre medical course before joining the Medical Faculty, will study Russian and special subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The duration of training at the preparatory department is about 9 months. On successful completion of the preparatory studying course they are admitted to the University and study medical disciplines in English.
The Russian Language training includes the studying of all the disciplines in Russian language. The English language training implies that students get education in English and acquire good knowledge in the Russian language to contact with patients. After graduation from the University the graduates are granted International Diploma and are conferred the title of the MD. In addition, the University provides the possibility of post-graduate education – Clinical residency and Post-graduate doctoral course in various medical fields.
The teaching staff of clinical departments at the Educational Institution “Grodno State Medical University” is engaged along with instruction and research in diagnostic and treatment work. At present 25 clinical departments of the University are located in different medical and prophylactic institutions of the city of Grodno, which are training medical “bases” of the University departments.
The mutual relations between clinical departments and municipal and prophylactic institutions are determined in association agreements concluded between the Grodno State Medical University and the Directorate of Public Health of the Grodno Province Executive Committee, as well as some medical and prophylactic institutions.
